Another Church?

Yes, but different!

People with a passion for Jesus Christ are meeting at the Jubilee Fields Community Centre every Sunday. Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 9:37 "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few." We are commanded to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.

Oaks of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:3

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendour. (NIV)

Testimonies

I was born into a family of Jehovah's Witnesses. I was an active member in this organization for 10 years. My grandfather was an elder in the organization for 40 years when he started reading the bible, and became a reborn Christian.
When it happened I didn't want to talk to my grandparents especially about Jesus. It was a disaster to me and my world turned upside down because my grandfather was a spiritual leader of the family and we felt he left us.
With time (and my grandparents prayers), as the Holy Spirit worked in me. I prayed to God to show me the way. In October 2000, I realised that I was being deceived. I left the Jehovah Witnesses. I started reading a book by Billy Graham 'You Must be Born Again', but my life was filled with alcohol, nightclubs and bad company. By the end of this book I decided to give my life to Jesus. I knelt down and confessed my sins before Him.
Since then on He's been leading me faithfully giving me peace and love and joy in my life. He helps me build a living and satisfactory relationship with Him. He gave me a family of believers in this church, where we can love and serve our Lord Jesus and one another.

Homegroup notes from Sunday

WALK IN THE SPIRIT

  • The most problems the church has today does not come from those walk in the Spirit, but from those who do not walk in the Spirit.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

  • Persecution for unrighteousness will lead to condemnation.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life (life giving Spirit) in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

(NLT Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things tha please the Spirit.)

6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

  • This does not mean in my interpretation that if you are not baptized in the Spirit that you are not a child of God, because when you become saved a measure of the Spirit dwells in you. But you will not survive staying there, you must be baptized by the Holy Spirit.

10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

  • The Question is
  • How do you want to walk: by the flesh or the Spirit
    •
      •
        • by your old or new nature
        • by corruption or grace

  • Deut 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life,

  • Where is your attention? Are you most wise for the world and the flesh or for your own soul.
  • Remember the flesh will not live forever, it will rot and nothing will be left of it.

  • Where is your investment?
  • Are you investing in that, that will come to nothing or are you investing in that, that will remain forever?

  • Because the carnal mind, the mind that is in the flesh, pleasing only the flesh is not just an enemy of God , but also an enemy of self. It's end is destruction.

  • What can a life in the flesh present that is worthy of this higher life we have in Christ.
  • Nothing!!! Know that life in the flesh leads to death, distruction and hell.
  • A walk in the flesh will never see God, for a walk in the flesh is an enemy of God.

Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors-not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galations 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:16-26 NLT

"16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves.

  • How do we walk by the Spirit?
  • In short.
  • Obeying the word of God is walking in the Spirit, because the scriptures are Holy Spirit inspired.
  • Important to know the scriptures to be able to walk effectively in the Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit will never go against the Word of God. (Sex as example)

  • It is important to realize that the Holy Spirit is a person and not some mystical figure of imagination.
  • He is real and He wants help you in your walk with Christ.
  • Relationship with the Holy Spirit is crucial to walk in the Spirit.

  • The Bible says in Amos 3:3 that how can two walk together unless they are in agreement.
  • So how can you walk with the Holy Spirit if you don't know Him and if you don't know Him how can you walk in agreement with Him.

  • How do you know what your friend or spouse likes or dislikes unless you walk a close relationship with him or her.
  • The same with the Holy Spirit. If you converse with the Holy Spirit and spend time talking to Him, honoring Him you will get to know the Spirit and then you will be enabled to walk by the Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit is beautiful and precious to me. I cannot survive without Him. God abides in us through His Spirit living in us. His voice is like drinking cold water on a very hot day.

v17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,

20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility(being at war with one another), quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension(disagreements), division,

21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives.

Ephesians 5:15-20 NLT

"15 So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.

16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

17 Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

  • We are living in the last days.
  • I'm warning you today. Don't take this lightly you will regret it if you do.

  • Only those who walk by the Spirit will survive to the end to receive the crown of life.

  • WE CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT.

  • Like Catharine Cullman said. Don't greave the Holy Spirit He is all I've got.
